RSD Graduation pt. I - Speeches and inspiration
With the devastating effects of COVID-19 making mass-gatherings like graduations and weddings impossible, everything has gone virtual. As is often the case with virtual events, technical difficulties, substandard equipment, and inadequate planning cause usually life-changing ceremonies to be uninspired, disappointing and, frankly, forgettable. At Lone Cricket Productions, we’ve had the honor of working with clients like Reading School District, featured here, to properly commemorate the Reading High School Graduation for the Class of 2020. Filmed over a five-day period, we worked closely with school personnel to recreate their graduation ceremony for a virtual audience, filming speeches from the Principal, School Board President, District Superintendent, Class of 2020 Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Class President, a performance from both the high school’s choir and orchestra, and the commencement walks of all 812 graduating seniors. Additionally, we were able to incorporate clips of students celebrating with their families outside of the school and aerial footage of the school, neighborhood and graduation car line, which was shot with a drone. The final product amounted to three videos with a total running time of 186 minutes and truly overjoyed graduates, family members, school personnel and the entire Reading High School community.
